Benzoin
Botanical Name: Styrax benzoin Plant Part: Resin Extraction: Solvent extraction Origin: India Description: Benzoin tree is native to South East Asia and grows to 8 meters (20 feet) in height. Resin is extracted by making deep incisions in the tree. The resin is then collected once it becomes hard and brittle. Benzoin Essential Oil is then extracted from the hard resin using solvent extraction. Color: Golden brown Common Uses: Benzoin Oil is used as an antiseptic, anti-depressant, diuretic, expectorant, sedative and vulnerary. Benzoin is used as an essential oil as well as a fixative in perfumes. Benzoin essential oil can also be used for bronchitis, coughs, psoriasis, rheumatism, arthritis, scar tissue, circulation, chilblains, rashes and mouth ulcers.
